ARO Guidelines

MSIC Guidelines for Prevention and Control of Antimicrobial Resistant Organisms (ARO), 2002 Now Available!

This revision of the 1997 version is extensive and includes the following:

• Updated letters of endorsement for these guidelines from Michigan Department of Community Health(MDCH) & Bureau of Health Systems - Michigan Department of Consumer & Industry Services (MDCIS)


• Expanded information on treatment of AROs


• New isolation precautions decision flowchart


• Revision of all sections, e.g. prevention & control, risk factors, references, & Internet links to additional resources


• Additional content focusing on control & prevention of transmission of AROs in long term care facilities


• Incorporation of hand hygiene principles patterned after the recent draft CDC Hand Hygiene Guideline
